I have a Grundig 3192 which has a frozen balance control . I am trying to dismantle the control in order to get inside and work on it. The attached photos show what I have. The balance control is stacked with the two volume controls. There is a piece on the end of the volume control shaft that has a pin it. I removed the pin but the end piece will not come off. This piece is preventing the balance control assembly from being removed. My question is " Should the end piece on the volume control just slide off or does it unscrew clockwise or counter-clockwise?". It may also be frozen to the shaft.

Thanks. I don't speak German either. I posted this in English. It is the secondary that is frozen. That turns the balance control. I suppose that I will have to rely on a product I have called " Liquid Wrench" to loosen up the control.

Problem solved. For future reference in case others come across the same problem. I loosened up the control by applying heat with a hair dryer for a few minutes. I was able to turn it CW and CCW and it is now usable.

Hah good to know. I did not even realize it was in English, as I have Chrome set to auto translate.

Yes, some heat will loosen up frozen pots, but be warned, once it cools off again it can seize back up. However if you are disassembling the pot you should be ok.

John,

don't forget to wash out the space between the parts with a solvent, like gasoline or WD 40 and then relubricate it with a good oil to prevent the whole thing from sticking again!
