aeg 7068WD
Dear friends,I have buyed a aeg 7068WD radio, the radio is playing but it has a low sound.I replacemend elektrolitic smooting capacitors.I think that; the potansiyometre can be faulty, please write me That;how can I learn is it faulty and I need a schaltplan. regards

Re: aeg 7068WD
245 V DC at the anode of the EL84 is ok.
You should check if there is sound if you connect a MP3 Player or the like to the PU or tape socket. Alternatively, you can touch the Pins with a piece of cable (e.g. measuring lead), there should be a humming noise then.
If yes, the AF amplifier is ok and the fault is in the receiver section.
If not, check the following voltages:
- grid 2 (Pin 9) of the EL84, it shall be approx. 230 V DC.
- cathode (Pin 3) of the EL84, it shall be approx. 8 V DC.
- anode (Pin 9) of the EABC80, it shall be approx. 65-70 V DC.
What happens if you touch Pin 2 of the EL84 with a piece of cable (e.g. measuring lead), does this result in a humming or crackling sound from the loudspeaker? If yes, the EL84 is working.

Re: aeg 7068WD
Hi, I have measurement voltages,for EL84
pin3...11VDC
pin7...242VDC
pin9...236VDC
but I haven'T measurement EABC80 because there is a metal can and EABC80 is in this can.
I have put a fm tuner on PU socket ,there is a low sound but the potansiyometre is not perfect,I have turn the potansiyometre on left and right but sound is no chance.so I suspect the potansiyometre, how can I control the potansiyometre.

Re: aeg 7068WD
Hi,
11 V at pin 3 is too high. Remove El84 and measure Voltage of grid1. It should be zero.
If not, check the capacitor which connects Anode EABC80 with grid1 of EL 84 (C44 0,01uF). I think this Capacitor is faulty.
regards
Oliver

Hi, NOW I replacemend C44 and pin3 of EL84 is 8VDC and anode of EABC80 is 71VDC. but The radio has very low sound.I suspect potansiyometre, because I turn it to right or left but the sound same and I hear cracking noıse.How can I check the potansiyometre.

Re: aeg 7068WD
The voltages are ok now.
You can check the potentiometer with an ohmmeter as follows:
On the potentiometer, there are three terminals in a row. Connect the ohmmeter to the center terminal and one of the other two terminals, then turn the volume button. The resistance shall gradual change from zero to approx 1.3 Meg Ohms. Then repeat this with the center terminal and the other of the other two terminals. The result shall be the same, but with turning the other way round.
One of the terminals shall be connected to chassis over a 270 Ohms resistor. You can check this with the ohmmeter too.
Sometimes the EABC80 ist faulty in such a way that there is only low sound on FM and the volume can not be changed. Do you have a spare tube to check that?

Re: aeg 7068WD
I have checked the potansiyometre and it is O.K and 270 ohm R is O.K too.tomorrow I will try to replacement EABC80 tube.

Re: aeg 7068WD
By the way...
is the volume poor with the FM Tuner at the PU socket?
If so, are you sure that it is connected properly?
What does the radio do if you press the UKW (FM) button and try to receive FM stations?

Hi,Lutz
I have replacement EL84 and EABC80 but the sound same.
I tried fm tuner with PU socket and there is poor sound.
the radio receive all of stations on fm band, but poor sound.
importance note; when I turn on end of left side(on potansiyometre),there is poor sound. There is no sound any side.ONLY end of left side.

Re: aeg 7068WD
As long as no one else has a better idea, I think you should check the components adjacent to the volume potentiometer, including the 10 Meg Ohms resistor between Pin 8 of the EABC 80 and ground, and the components between the volume potentiometer and the PU socket. Not only the components themselves, look also for possible short circuits between signal path and ground.
