Hi, I think it would be a good idea to tell us your name, its easier for all to call you. Anyway, its not easy to say which radio has the better sound, Grundig, Philips or what else. In general you can say the sound will be more powerful if the cabinet of the radio is bigger and its made from wood. Also if more loudspeakers are in use, that is most the case in bigger cabinets. A push-pull amplifier makes a stronger bass as well (more power). I think you will not find a small radio with a big bass, a good sound will be possible but without a strong bass. So you have to compromise what is more important for you, the strong bass or the small cabinet.

Greetings.

That's all correct, but from my point of view, there is no radio with the absolute best sound.

It is a matter of opinion which sound is considered as "good" or not. For example, one listener likes a strong bass, whereas another one doesn't. One listener is especially sensitive to buzzing and other noises, another one to non-linear distortions, to frequency response or phase errors, and so on.

Last but not least, it depends on the style of music, on the recording technology/quality and sometimes even on the sound storage medium or the transmission path. For example, many radio stations falsify the frequency response in order to get a powerful sound, but that doen't sound good on every radio.

Therefore, everyone has to find out individually which sound he likes most.

Hi!

Choose a radio built roundabout 1953 to 1960. Earlier radios have weak fm tuners.

Moin!
Warning: Technobabble!
Try to get a Radio with 2 EF89 Tubes in the IF circuit, like a Graetz Sinfonia 422.
They are more sensitive as the ones with only one Tube.

Don't forget that the alignment has great effect on sensivity.

A radio with two EF89s, but poor RF and IF alignment, may be less sensitive than another radio with only one EF89, but optimally adjusted.

For best reception and sound, it is not sufficient to choose the best equipment. It is just as important that the equipment is in good condition.
